Chad, officially known as the Republic of Chad, is a landlocked country in north-central Africa. It is bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west.
Chadian cuisine is diverse and reflects the country's varied geography and cultural influences. It often features staple ingredients like millet, sorghum, and rice, which are used to make traditional dishes such as boule, a type of porridge. Meat, particularly goat, lamb, and fish from Lake Chad, is commonly consumed, often grilled or stewed. Vegetables like okra, tomatoes, and spinach are frequently used in sauces and stews. Spices and seasonings, including chili peppers and garlic, add flavor to many dishes. Chadian cuisine also incorporates influences from Arab and French culinary traditions, resulting in a unique blend of flavors.
