Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of rice

  • 1 cup of warm water

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 packet of yeast

  • 1 cup of flour

  • Cooking oil for frying


Instructions:

  1. Soak the rice in warm water for about 6 hours or overnight.

  2. After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a blender. Blend until it forms a smooth paste.

  3. In a large bowl, combine the rice paste, sugar, and yeast. Mix well until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  4. Cover the bowl and let it sit in a warm place for about 2 hours to allow the yeast to activate and the mixture to rise.

  5. After 2 hours, add the flour to the mixture and mix well. The consistency should be similar to pancake batter.

  6. Heat the cooking oil in a deep frying pan. Once the oil is hot, scoop spoonfuls of the batter and drop them into the oil.

  7. Fry the vitumbuwa until they turn golden brown, then flip them over to cook the other side.

  8. Once cooked, remove the vitumbuwa from the oil and drain them on paper towels.

  9. Serve the vitumbuwa while they are still warm.
