provoleta
Next Dish: Rugbrød
Provoleta is a traditional Argentine dish made from provolone cheese. The cheese is often seasoned with oregano and chili flakes, then grilled until it achieves a crispy exterior and melted interior. It is typically served in a small, heated skillet or on a piece of bread, often as an appetizer or side dish. The dish is popular in both Argentina and Uruguay, especially during asados, or barbecues.
Recipe
Ingredients:
1 Provolone cheese wheel (around 200g)
1 tablespoon of dried oregano
1 teaspoon of chili flakes
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of fresh chopped parsley
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius (around 400 degrees Fahrenheit).
Place the provolone cheese wheel in an oven-safe dish.
Drizzle the top of the cheese with olive oil.
Sprinkle the dried oregano and chili flakes evenly over the top of the cheese.
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the chopped parsley over the top.
Serve the provoleta hot, using a spoon to scoop out the melted cheese.
