pasta

Next Dish: Lagostada

Pasta is a type of Italian dish typically made from an unleavened dough of wheat flour mixed with water or eggs, and formed into sheets or various shapes, then cooked by boiling or baking. It is a staple food of traditional Italian cuisine, with the first reference dating to 1154 in Sicily. Pasta can be divided into two broad categories: dried (pasta secca) and fresh (pasta fresca). It is generally served with a sauce, which can range from simple tomato sauce to more complex preparations.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pasta

  • 4 cups water

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon oil

  • 2 cups pasta sauce

Instructions:

  1. Pour water into a large pot. Add salt to the water and bring it to a boil.

  2. Once the water is boiling, add pasta to the pot. Stir occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking together.

  3. Cook the pasta until it is al dente, or cooked but still firm when bitten, usually around 8-12 minutes depending on the type of pasta.

  4. While pasta is cooking, heat pasta sauce in a separate saucepan over medium heat.

  5. Drain the cooked pasta in a colander and return it to the pot. Add oil and toss to prevent sticking.

  6. Pour the heated pasta sauce over the cooked pasta and stir until the pasta is completely coated.

  7. Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy your pasta!
