Next Dish: Pa amb tomàquet
Paneer Tikka is a popular Indian dish made from chunks of paneer, a type of non-melting cottage cheese, marinated in spices and grilled in a tandoor. It is a vegetarian alternative to chicken tikka and other meat dishes. It is typically served with a mint sauce or coriander chutney. The dish is often used as an appetizer in Indian cuisine and is also popular in other South Asian countries.
Recipe
Ingredients:
250 grams Paneer (Cottage Cheese)
1/2 cup Yogurt
1 teaspoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 tablespoon Mustard Oil
1 Onion (cut into cubes)
1 Capsicum (cut into cubes)
1 Tomato (cut into cubes)
Wooden skewers (soaked in water)
Instructions:
Cut the paneer into cubes and keep aside.
In a bowl, mix together the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, lemon juice, and mustard oil to make the marinade.
Add the paneer cubes to the marinade and mix well. Ensure all the paneer cubes are well coated with the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours.
After 2 hours, thread the marinated paneer cubes onto the soaked skewers, alternating with pieces of onion, capsicum, and tomato.
Preheat the grill or oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Place the skewers on the grill rack and grill for about 15-20 minutes or until the paneer is golden and slightly charred. Keep turning the skewers occasionally to ensure even grilling.
Once done, remove from the grill and serve hot with mint chutney or any dip of your choice.
