Olivier Salad, also known as Russian Salad, is a traditional dish in Russian cuisine. It is a salad composed of diced boiled vegetables, meats, and mayonnaise. Common ingredients include potatoes, carrots, peas, pickles, eggs, onions, and chicken or ham. The salad is named after its creator, Lucien Olivier, a Belgian chef who worked in Moscow in the late 19th century.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 potatoes

  • 2 carrots

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 apple

  • 1 can of peas

  • 4 pickles

  • 1 onion

  • 300g of cooked meat (chicken, ham or bologna sausage)

  • 200g of mayonnaise

  • Salt to taste


Instructions:

  1. Boil the potatoes, carrots, and eggs until they are fully cooked.

  2. While they are boiling, dice the onion, pickles, apple, and cooked meat into small cubes.

  3. Once the boiled ingredients have cooled, peel and dice them as well.

  4. Combine all the diced ingredients in a large bowl, add the peas, and mix well.

  5. Gradually add the mayonnaise, stirring consistently to evenly distribute it.

  6. Add salt to taste and stir the salad one last time before serving.
