A meat pie is a traditional dish, primarily popular in the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g of minced beef

  • 2 diced onions

  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 2 carrots, diced

  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste

  • 1 cup of beef broth

  • 1 teaspoon of thyme

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry

  • 1 beaten egg for glazing


Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

  2. In a large pan, cook the minced beef over medium heat until it's no longer pink.

  3. Add the onions, garlic, and carrots to the pan and cook until the vegetables are soft.

  4. Stir in the tomato paste, beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 15 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  5. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and line the bottom of a pie dish with it.

  6. Pour the meat mixture into the pie dish.

  7. Roll out the second sheet of puff pastry and place it over the meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal.

  8. Brush the top of the pie with the beaten egg.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.

  10. Let the pie cool for a few minutes before serving.
