Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g pork belly

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce

  • 1 cup rice wine

  • 3 cups water

  • 2 star anise

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 3 cloves garlic

  • 3 slices ginger

  • 4 hard boiled eggs

  • 2 cups cooked rice


Instructions:

  1. Cut the pork belly into small pieces.

  2. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat. Add sugar and stir until it melts and turns brown.

  3. Add the pork belly pieces and stir-fry until browned.

  4. Add soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice wine, water, star anise, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, garlic, and ginger into the pot. Stir well.

  5. Lower the heat, cover the pot and let it simmer for about 2 hours.

  6. In the meantime, peel the hard boiled eggs.

  7. After 2 hours, add the eggs into the pot and let it simmer for another 30 minutes.

  8. Serve the pork and eggs over cooked rice.
