lokshe
Next Dish: Chapati
Lokshe is a traditional Indian flatbread, similar to a roti or chapati, originating from the Maharashtra region. It is typically made from wheat flour, water, and sometimes oil, and is cooked on a tava, a flat or slightly concave iron griddle. The bread is often served with curry, dal, or other Indian dishes. Lokshe is enjoyed on a daily basis in many Indian households, and is particularly popular during festivals and special occasions.
Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 cup warm water
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Make a well in the center and add the oil and water.
Mix with a spoon or your hands until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes, until it's smooth and elastic.
Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each part into a thin circle.
Heat a frying pan over medium heat and cook each circle for about 2 minutes on each side, until it's golden brown.
Keep the cooked Lokshe covered with a cloth to keep them warm and soft until you're ready to serve them.
