Kacamak is a traditional Balkan dish popular in Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and North Macedonia. It is a type of maize porridge, made by mixing cornmeal with water or milk and cooking it slowly until it thickens. Depending on the region, it can be served with various accompaniments, such as cheese, sour milk, or meat. Kacamak is often consumed as a main course.
Recipe
Ingredients:
500 grams of corn flour
1 liter of water
2 teaspoons of salt
200 grams of butter
200 grams of feta cheese
Instructions:
Pour the water into a large pot and add the salt. Bring it to a boil.
Gradually add the corn flour while stirring constantly to prevent any lumps from forming.
Reduce the heat to low and continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
Add the butter and continue stirring until it's completely melted and mixed in.
Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Crumble the feta cheese and stir it into the mixture until well combined.
