Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup of crushed wheat (burghul)
1 cup of yogurt
2 cups of water
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
1 teaspoon of coriander seeds
Instructions:
Rinse the crushed wheat under cold water until the water runs clear.
In a large bowl, combine the rinsed wheat, yogurt, water, and salt. Stir until well combined.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent.
Add the cumin and coriander seeds to the pan and cook for another minute, until the spices are fragrant.
Pour the wheat and yogurt mixture into the pan and stir well to combine with the onions and spices.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the wheat is cooked and the mixture has thickened.
Serve the Jireesh hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
