Jasha Maru is a traditional Bhutanese dish commonly consumed in Bhutan. The main ingredients are chicken, tomatoes, onions, green chilies, garlic, and coriander leaves. Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 red bell pepper, finely chopped

  • 2 tomatoes, finely chopped

  • 2 green chillies, chopped

  • 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves

  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 cup water


Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Add the chopped onion to the pan and sauté until it becomes translucent.

  3. Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté until it becomes aromatic.

  4. Add the chopped red bell pepper to the pan and sauté for a few minutes until it softens.

  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies to the pan and cook until the tomatoes become soft and mushy.

  6. Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt to the pan and mix well.

  7. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and stir well to coat them with the spices.

  8. Add water to the pan, cover it, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the flavors are well combined.

  9. Add the chopped coriander leaves to the pan and stir well.

  10. Remove the pan from the heat and serve the Jasha Maru hot.
