Fried Plantains are a popular dish in many Latin American, Caribbean, and African countries. This dish is made from ripe or unripe plantains, which are sliced and fried until they are crispy and golden brown. The taste can range from sweet to savory, depending on the ripeness of the plantains used. They can be served as a side dish, snack, or used in various recipes as a component.
Recipe
Ingredients:
2 ripe plantains
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Salt to taste
Instructions:
Peel the plantains and cut them diagonally or round, into 1/4 inch thick slices.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
When the oil is hot, add the plantains and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried plantains to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Sprinkle with salt to taste while they're still warm.
Serve immediately. Enjoy your fried plantains as a snack or side dish.
