Fërgesë is a traditional Albanian dish, particularly popular in Tirana. Its main ingredients are bell peppers, tomatoes, cottage cheese or feta, and spices. The dish can be prepared with or without meat, often veal or liver. It is typically served warm and can be eaten as a main dish or a side dish.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of cottage cheese

  • 2 green peppers

  • 2 red peppers

  • 2 large tomatoes

  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 3 cloves of garlic

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon of paprika

  • 2 tablespoons of parsley

Instructions:

  1. Wash and chop the peppers into thin slices.

  3. While the peppers are cooking, chop the tomatoes and garlic.

  4. Add the chopped tomatoes and garlic to the pan and stir well. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

  8. Serve the Fërgesë warm with bread or as a side dish.
