choripan
Next Dish: Coconut Crab
Choripán is a popular street food dish in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and other parts of South America. The name is a portmanteau of its ingredients: "chorizo" (a spicy sausage) and "pan" (bread). This dish usually consists of a grilled chorizo served in a crusty bread roll, and is often accompanied by chimichurri sauce. Choripán is typically served as an appetizer during the preparation of an asado, a traditional barbecue.
Recipe
Ingredients:
2 chorizo sausages
2 crusty baguette-style rolls
1/2 cup chimichurri sauce
Instructions:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Grill the chorizo sausages until they are fully cooked, this usually takes about 10-15 minutes. Make sure to turn them occasionally for even cooking.
While the sausages are grilling, cut the baguette-style rolls in half but do not cut all the way through. You want to create a pocket for the sausage.
Once the sausages are done, place each sausage into the cut baguette-style roll.
Generously spread the chimichurri sauce over the sausage.
Serve the choripán immediately while it's still hot. Enjoy!
